When is Chinese New Year 2027?
The Year of the Goat begins on Saturday, 6 February 2027. The reunion dinner falls on the eve before, Friday 5 February, and the celebrations close with the Lantern Festival on 20 February.
In Indonesia the holiday is called Imlek and is a national public holiday. For families from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Jakarta, it is one of the most popular weeks to travel to Bali, so we recommend reserving early.
One estate, one family
Rumah Hujan Estate brings together two villas, Rumah Hujan and Rumah Senja, within 2,400 sqm of jungle garden above the river Wos. Each house keeps its own privacy while sharing one estate. Grandparents can rest in one villa while the younger generation settles into the other.
There are no other guests, no shared pool and no lobby. Days begin slowly, with morning light over the valley and the sound of the river below.
A reunion dinner at your own table
The reunion dinner is the heart of the New Year. Our kitchen can prepare New Year's Eve around your family's traditions, from a whole steamed fish to longevity noodles, alongside Balinese dishes from the estate's garden. Everything is served at your table, at your pace.
Rainy afternoons, together
February is Bali's wet season, which usually means bright mornings and a warm afternoon shower. The estate is designed for both. Two heated saltwater pools stay comfortable for children and grandparents alike. The bamboo pavilion by Ibuku houses an indoor badminton court for family games in any weather. Terraces facing Campuhan Ridge are made for tea, mahjong or watching the rain move across the valley.
Celebrating in Ubud
Ubud centre is about 2.5 km away, close enough to walk to some of the town's best restaurants. Across Bali, Chinese temples known as klenteng hold lion dances and prayers during the New Year. Our team can arrange a driver so you can join the celebrations and return to the quiet of the estate by evening.
